Israel: Law Changes Minimum Age for Marriage

Israel’s Parliament adopted a new law that raises the minimum age for marriage to 18. The minimum age was previously set at 17. The Marriage Age Law (Amendment No. 6) also repeals exceptions allowing a minor to marry if she is pregnant or on the grounds of parenthood.

The new law also requires an annual report on its implementation to be presented to the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee of the Parliament.
