Uruguay: Council of Ministers Approves Comprehensive Bill on Violence against Women

In April, Uruguay’s Council of Ministers finalized a comprehensive bill to prevent gender-based violence in Uruguay. The bill amends existing criminal law, establishes specialized courts to address violence against women, and creates new institutions to promote gender equality. According to UN Women, the bill will be reviewed by the Uruguayan Senate.
