Europe: Council of Europe Appoints Group of Experts on Violence Against Women

The Committee of the Parties for the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) held its first meeting on May 4, in Strasbourg, France. At that meeting, the Committee elected the first ten members of the Group of Experts on Action against Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO). GREVIO is authorized to monitor the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in ratifying states.
