Afghanistan: Woman Publicly Executed for Adultery

On August 8, a pregnant Afghani woman was publicly executed by a Taliban commander for committing adultery. The man with whom she was allegedly involved has not been sanctioned.

According to the head of the Independent Human Rights Commission in Afghanistan, the woman was not tried in an Afghan court but was instead sentenced by the Taliban commander who performed the execution.
