Afghanistan: Top Female Police Officer Killed

The most senior female police officer in Afghanistan was killed outside of her home on September 16 by unknown gunmen. She was the third Afghan policewoman murdered in the last three months.

According to a female police officer, Taliban and drug traders threaten women serving in the Afghan police, warning them that they will be killed one by one. Women make up less than one percent of the Afghan police force.
