Azerbaijan: UN Experts Consider State Progress in Combatting Violence Against Women and Gender Discrimination

The U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW Committee) highlighted the continued prevalence of forced and child marriage in Azerbaijan during the Committee’s review of the country's compliance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The CEDAW Committee also expressed concern about the persistence of traditional and patriarchal attitudes in Azerbaijan that perpetuate discrimination and violence against women.
