United Nations Secretary-General Expresses Sympathy For Indian Rape Victim

United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon expressed deep sorrow at the death of the young woman who became a victim of a brutal gang-rape in India on December 16, 2012. Together with millions of other people from India and all around the world who are demanding immediate actions, he asked the Indian government to implement legal reforms in order to bring those who are responsible to justice.
 
Mr. Ban Ki-moon encouraged the Indian government to strengthen critical services for victims and promised support from UN Women and other UN agencies in order to implement necessary reforms. He expressed his sympathy to the girl’s family and added that "Violence against women must never be accepted, never excused, never tolerated. Every girl and woman has the right to be respected, valued and protected."
