Yemen: Safe Streets Campaign Launches Sexual Harassment Hotline
Yemen's Safe Streets Campaign launched a new hotline on April 7, 2013, to monitor and document sexual harassment crimes. Sexual harassment affects the lives of 98.9% of Yemeni women, especially in the capital of Sana’a. The Safe Streets campaign, launched in 2011, is working to address sexual harassment in the streets and strengthen awareness on the issue. Through the hotline, a victim can report an offense by sending a text message. The campaign hopes the hotline will help bring aid to potential victims of sexual harassment and ultimately reduce the number of sex crimes in the streets of Yemen.
