Myanmar: National Anti-Human Trafficking Program Extended 5 Years

The five-year anti-trafficking program in Myanmar, scheduled to end this year, has been extended to run another five years. Citing the achievements of the program, which included the return of thousands of trafficked Myanmar people, authorities stated that they would step-up pressure in 40 more townships and four more regions and states. Raising community awareness of human-trafficking is also part of the program, and will include the distribution of pamphlets, erecting billboards, and advertising on city buses.

Compiled from: Xinhuanet, Myanmar to extend five more years of anti-human trafficking program (23 September 2011).
