U.N. Special Rapporteur for Trafficking Detained b
The Bangladesh Government has refused to allow Sigma Huda, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially in women and children, to leave the country of Bangladesh. She was denied exit several times by airport authorities and during her fourth attempt to leave the country she was informed of an order from the Chief Justice to keep her within Bangladesh. Ms. Huda is seen as a “security risk” to the Bangladesh Government as she could make statements that would show the Government in a negative light.
