In Lithuania, a woman working in a construction firm claimed that her boss wanted sexual favors in exchange for her keeping job; a coworker corroborated her claim. Although similar claims had been made previously, sexual harassment was proven for the first time under the equal opportunities law, drafted in 1999. The penalty is an official warning and a fine of 29-580 Euro or a court case. Twenty-one percent of women and twenty-one percent of men reported at least one experience of sexual harassment, according a study by Vilnius University.
