Police from Azerbaijan and Georgia Trained on Dome

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) trained law enforcement about domestic violence during its annual human rights conference in Warsaw in September and October. The trainers stressed the need to make domestic violence a crime as part of national laws and protect victims through legislation. A component of the training was ensuring understanding that domestic violence is a crime; another component of the training was encouraging NGOs, health care providers, and law enforcement to work together in preventing domestic violence, specifically in Azerbaijan and Georgia. Azerbaijan will be introducing legislation on domestic violence in the near future. A two-day training has been created for future police cadets and officers who were unable to attend that particular training.
