Opium Brides on the Rise

In some parts of Afghanistan, fathers are settling their loans paying for their poppy production with drug traffickers by selling their daughters. In poorer places, an opium bride is worth $3000, and in other areas, an opium bride may be worth $8000. Over ninety percent of the world’s heroin is produced in Afghanistan.
