Afghan Police Trained in Gender Issues

The UN has released a Dari language (spoken in Afghanistan) version of the Gender and Security Sector and Reform Toolkit, which is used to train the security sector on domestic violence and gender-based violence.

The kit focuses on areas such as crime, armed conflict, corruption, and civilian harassment. Security reform that uses a gender-focused prism is necessary for creating a viable and useful security sector.

Compiled from: Working with the security sector for inclusive security, justice and gender equality, United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women, 27 February 2008.
