United Nations Voluntary Fund on Contemporary Form

The United Nations Voluntary Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery is asking non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to submit grant proposals of up to $15,000US. The deadline is 30 March 2009. The grant money will help NGOs attend sessions of the Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery or to provide direct assistance to individuals whose human rights have been violated as a result of slavery.

The Working Group will accept projects addressing human trafficking, sexual slavery, child labor, child servitude, debt bondage, serfdom, force marriage, wife sales, forced labor and other forms of slavery.

The 2008 grants were awards to dozens of countries, including three projects from the Russian Federation and one from Tajikistan.
