Bolivia's New Constitution Extends Women's Rights

On 11 February 2009, the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) reported that Bolivia adopted a new Constitution by referendum on 26 January 2009. Seen as a substantial victory by feminist and human rights groups, the new Constitution includes guarantees of equal pay for men and women, protection from violence for women, and access to land for women.
