Ireland: Urgent call to address femicide in national Gender-Based Violence strategy

Ireland is facing an urgent need to address femicide, as the state’s current inability to define the term leads to underreporting and challenges in assessing trends. Without a clear definition, efforts to prevent gender-based violence remain inadequate. Immediate action is needed to recognize and combat femicide as a distinct and pressing issue within Ireland’s broader strategy against gender-based violence.
