United States: President Calls on Federal Agencies to Assist Employees who are Victims of Domestic Violence
On 18 April 2012 President Obama signed a memorandum requiring that all federal agencies establish policies to assist employees who are victims of domestic violence. The policies are expected to be comprehensive and include strategies for prevention and intervention in cases where federal employees are involved either as victims or perpetrators. The memo states that “as the Nation's largest employer, the Federal Government should act as a model in responding to the effects of domestic violence on its workforce.”
